What is the Student Career Opportunities Outreach Program (SCOOP)?The summer student internship program is open to high school students starting from rising sophomore to senior year. The program will place you in patient service areas throughout Children’s Hospital Boston. There are ten positions available. During your internship you will learn more about the delivery of healthcare and will participate as a team member in the care of our patients.
What will I do?
SCOOP interns at Boston Children’s Hospital will work 24 hours per week for six weeks during the summer. Interns will be placed in a clinical area of the hospital where we deliver care to pediatric patients and their families. Each intern will have a mentor who will support and help throughout the internship. Interns will have the opportunity to observe professionals in the healthcare setting and learn about family-centered care.
When is it?
The internship lasts 6 weeks. It starts on Monday, July 9, 2018 and will finish on Thursday, August 16, 2018.
How do I apply?

- Submit a 500 word essay about why you are interested in this internship and why you want to work in nursing or healthcare. In your own words tell us about your experience and why doing this internship would be meaningful to you.
- Ask two people who know you well to submit a letter of recommendation. Please have them tell us why they think you would be an ideal candidate for this program.
